Hello all:

See the team registration below for NA SSB Sprint this Saturday night
local date. 0000-0359Z Sunday UTC date. The team consists of four SECC
members (many of us are members of other clubs too) and one from GCG.
Don't worry Mike. Just show Georgia Contest Group as your club. You
don't need to be a name of the club that has the team to participate
with us and thanks for joining in filling out the team.

Be sure to use the cFpr

all that you are registered with. You may run full legal power in this
one. Activity is only on 20, 40, and 80M. Much activity will be in the
General class band, but on 40 and particularly 80 there be a lot of
activity in the Advanced/General bands and some also on 20M.

There is a QSY rule. If you solicit a QSO, you must QSY one kHz to call
another station and 5 kHz to solicit another call. If you call a
station, you can keep the frequency and CQ there or answer another caller.

It is best to have two messsages. Use one like this if you have called
someone else: W4AN 1 JOHN GA K4BAI. Saying your call at the end is a
signal to anyone listening that you will be keeping the frequency and
listening for callers after you get the acknowledgement from the station
you are working. If you have called CQ, use this one: W4AN K4BAI 2 John
GA. Your failure to give your call at the end is a signal to others not
to call you now.
too
For SO1R stations, most stations will start on 20, move down to 40, and
finally to 80. SO2R stations will start on 40 and 20 and change later
to 40 and 80. Multipliers count only once in the contest, so it is
importan to work all
you can when you get the chance. The only mults are US states, VE
provinces and possessions, and North American DX countries. You can
work stations outside North America for points. Their exchange will not
include a location, but if your logging program insists on one before
you can log the QSO, put in "DX." You can take the "DX" out of the
Cabrillo file later if you want.

The logs are checked rigorously for accuracy so don't be afraid to ask
for a repeat if you need it. Of course, if you have called CQ and ask
the station worked for a repeat and he doesn't hear you and works
another station, you can copy his info from the next QSO and complete
your log.

Please send in your log to the sponsor promptly. I think the
requirement is five days. Also post to the 3830 Reflector ASAP. I will
pick up the scores from there and have the team score on the mid week
score report.

Check the rules, but I don't think KH6 counts as a mult. Your logging
software will probably get it right. One warning, when using N1MM Plus,
your score summary window will probably show two different figures for
multipliers. It will give you one total for states and provinces and
another, smaller, one for DXCC countries. In reporting your score to
3830, you will report the total of these two figures.

There is a lot of activity in this contest and it should be a lot of
fun. I guess ideally, you would want to spend one hour and twenty
minutes on each band, but when the rate drops on 20M, you should go to
40. In doing that, you will probably work some on 40 who won't be
workable later due to the skip lengthening out. When the rate slows on
40, it is wise to check back on 20 for any stragglers you may have
missed there. Often, you may pick up a western state or provice or
KL7. And the SO2R guys will still be calling there if the band is
open. When the rate slows on 80, go back to 40 and you may switch back
and forth in the last hour.

Of course, you can and will want to work each station on each of the
three bands if you can.

Have fun and, again, thanks for participating.

I hope others who read this message will get on and have fun in the
Sprint even if you are not on a team.
73, John, K4BAI.

Thank you for registering a team for the upcoming NA SSB Sprint contest.
