we had a great Field Day at W4CVY 3A GA. At the W station, the
antenna was a problem and KU8E went home and made us a new 88' zepp
to replace the old one. Four CW ops, K4BAI, KU8E, K4EOR, and K8LBQ
kept the CW station going after a slow start. Digital station in
same trailer worked out nicely. That is a quiet mode, at least the
way Steve and Steve operate it. They made more digital (PSK31) QSOs
than we have ever had on FD. Something was wrong with the network
and we couldn't see the SSB QSOs ( and they couldn't see our CW
QSOs),, but I think they kept the station manned and made a lot of
QSOs. The GOTA station signed W4FIZ and a number of non hams and
new hams made QSOs under the supervision of AJ1F. The VHF station
made about 50 QSOs on 6M SSB. KY7DR made at least two satellite
QSOs. Norm, W1NRE headed up the Satiurday evening meal and a lot of
hams and their families contributed side dishes and desserts. It
was a great feast and even left the CW station unmanned in order to
eat, a first for me. Several of us copied the FD message from W1AW
and a message was sent on GSN to AG4ZR, the GA section manager.
N4VPI, the DEC from LaGrange visted out site. We were located in
Cooper Creek Park and got a lot of public exposure. There were a
lot of other things competing for attention this weekend at Cooper
Creek, including a junior tennis tournament. We worked out an
operating schedule, which was varied during antenna problems. But
K4EOR and K8LBQ camped out in a van near the CW/digital trailer and
KU8E and I each got to go home for much needed rest and sleep. I
operated just over an hour from home Saturday about 10 PM around the
late session of GSN, which had only one check in, namely me. Thanks
to George and Bain, I felt better than I ever have after a FD, so I
am about to go back to Cooper Creek for a tennis team practice.
Thanks to all who helped out at the FD site. K4BLL was the head
honcho and he did a magnificent job of getting the antenna ropes
high up i the trees. Wait til next year! 73, John, K4BAI.

Home from the W4CVy site for shower and some sleep. Helping out stations in the
field (not W4CVY). Thanks for the QSOs and hope everyone had a safe and fun
Field Day. 73, John, K4BAI.
