GM:

A few reminders about the CWTs next week. First, the CWTs on March 13
and 14 are dedicated to our CW Academy students and we ask everybody to
put the brakes on and limit their speeds to 20 WPM maximum. See
https://cwops.org/cwops-tests/. Some of you break out the straight keys
for this.

Why slow down? We had over 300 students who took a CW Academy class
during our January-February semester. We had over 60 advisors who
worked with those students. One of the best lessons the students can do
is to get on the air. You can be an advisor for an hour by working
these students and encouraging them to keep getting better. The thing I
like best about this club is how we reach out to people and share our
enthusiasm for CW. If they need some training to improve, we will do
that at no cost. So please look for and welcome the unfamiliar call
signs that are signing 'CWA'.

Reminder #2: Jim, KE8G, is going to put the Great Lakes CWops vanity
call -- KN8CWO -- on the air for CWA Day. A few guys in the UK are
planning to activate their CWO vanity calls. Here in the US, we have
other vanity calls available. See
https://cwops.org/us-uk-vanity-callsigns/ for information about the
vanity call program and to sign up to use one of the calls.

Reminder #3: The dreaded (for me) daylight saving time will take effect
for most of us in the US on Sunday. Other parts of the world have
already gone to that or might soon. So please make sure that you know
what time the CWT is for you.

Let's pack the bands and have fun!
