Hello all:

As you know, this is the weekend of the CQ World Wide RTTY Contest.
Good luck to all participants. Hope band conditions will be excellent.

As one who does not work RTTY yet, I am disappointed to find that the
only contest for this weekend on CW and SSB is the Maine QSO Party.
However, the Maine QSO Party has a very unusual rule for state QSO
parties. You may work any station anywhere for QSO points and
multiplier credit. Last year, I worked only Maine stations, despite
understanding the rule. The results from last year express
disappointment at so many logs being submitted with only Maine QSOs.

It runs from 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sunday on 160-10M CW and SSB. Mults are
S/P/DXCC entities and Maine Counties. The exchange is RST + S/P/DX or
Maine counties. DC counts as MD. The rules define what Canadian areas
count as mults. The rules say that N3FJP, N1MM, and SD Log are updated
with the latest rules. QSOs count for one point except those with Maine
stations count two points.

So, if you find yourself wishing for a HF CW/SSB contest this weekend,
you might join me in working the Maine QSO Party.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. 73, John, K4BAI.
