W5JR is right Mike. Save yourself a ton of frustration and find one of
those tuning knobs for your Flex as soon as you can.
After many years as primarily a S&P op I went to a Field Day where they
only used Flex's. Running was fine, but I almost decided not to go back the
next year after being so irritated with S&P while using one. You gotta have
fun when contesting, right? I wasn't having any. I hated Flex radios. The
next year they had those fancy knobs with three buttons to help automate
some functions. MUCH better. So much so I began to consider buying a Flex.
