[SECC] Panadapter Software for Elecraft

Hi, Jeff. As it happens, just last week I played with the latest version 
of WIN4K3, and it does support a panadapter display from the K3 if you 
have a sound card that can provide I/Q data. In my case, I used my 
LP-PAN that I've been using for years to derive the I/Q data. I've used 
the LP-PAN to run NaP3 for quite a while, and despite a couple of rough 
edges it does a pretty good job. I run an instance of NaP3 set up for an 
approximately 100 kHz spectrum width on my secondary display that gives 
me a "situational awareness" look at the band. I use the P3 at a 10 or 
20 kHz span to find signals.

The fatal flaw with the WIN4K3 implementation is that it won't work in 
tracking mode. In tracking mode, available with NaP3 and the P3, as you 
tune the radio a cursor representing the radio frequency moves across a 
fixed spectrum. This has the advantage that the waterfall display gives 
you a time history of signals on each frequency across the spectrum 
slice being displayed. This is extremely useful if you're running S&P, 
or even just looking for a clear run frequency. WIN4K3 instead slews the 
spectrum display with a fixed center receiver frequency, which smears 
the waterfall display as the radio is tuned. WIN4K3 can also broadcast 
I/Q data on a UDP stream for use with the recently implemented spectrum 
display function in N1MM+, but from what little I've played with the 
N1MM implementation it appears to suffer from the same lack of a 
tracking mode. I can send you some screen shots of the NaP3 and WIN4K3 
displays if you'd like so you can see what I'm talking about.
