For sale Cushcraft XM240 Big Thunder 40m 2 element Yagi antenna – 50% off, $550
I can't say too much about this antenna. Purchased new in 2016 it has consistently provided a big footprint for my low-power station. For example, the station was number 1 in the United States for multi-single in the 2017 CQ WPX SSB contest with 677 contacts on 40m, the highest band count of any all band US low-power station and 2nd in world. The antenna also accounted for 123 contacts in the 2017 ARRL SSB DX contest which was the 2nd most 40m contacts for a SO unlimited low-power and 4th most overall of low-power contacts.
The station has the highest raw score for the 2019 CQWW SSB contest with 167 contacts, SO(A) 40m US and 3rd overall number of low-power contacts. This was a very part-time effort with the antenna at about 32 feet with the rotor stuck on Europe. I even worked Norfolk Island off of the back of the beam during the contest.
Unfortunately my age and a dead rotor did not allow me to truly use the antenna after 2017. A HAM IV rotor will handle the antenna if it's the only one on the mast. Two antennas require something more robust. We have now removed the antenna from the tower and it is ready to be picked up at my QTH in Savannah, Georgia.
Offered 1st to SECC members and feel free to forward to the SEDXC reflector.
