This Week's ContestS:

Of course, the big contest this weekend is the annual ARRL November
Sweepstakes, CW. See below.

1. Straight Key Century Club Europe Sprint. 2000-2200Z Thursday.
160-6M CW. Use a mechanical key. Most activity on 20M, but some on
40M. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, SKCC# or "NONE." You can work
Europeans, of course, but you can work any other stations too. Look
around 050-062 kHz.

2. QRP Fox Hunt. Thursday night on 80M. 0200-0330Z Friday. Two QRP
Foxes will be calling between 3550 and 3570 kHz. Exchange: RST, SPC,
Name, Power. Work only the two foxes and do not spot their frequencies.
5W max power. Most foxes start out split "UP 1." Most will go
simplex when the pile up dies down. The foxes are scheduled to be:
WX2S, STEVE, NJ and N0UR, JIM, MN. Should be fairly easily workable
from this area.

3. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0145-0215Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY
rule. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after
one intervening QSO. Look around 082 kHz and up from 1805 kHz.

4. NCCC NS Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0230-0259Z Friday.
  15, 20, 40, 80, 160M CW. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes permitted.
Look around 040-046 kHz and up from 1815 kHz.

5. Straight Key Century Club Weekend Sprintathon (WES). 1200Z Sat to
2400Z Sun. 24 hours max operating time. 160-6M CW. Exchange: RST,
SPC, Name, SKCC# or "NONE." Look around 050 to 060 kHz. Use a
mechanical key.

6. Ukrainian DX Contest. 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun. 160-10M Cw, SSB.
Exchange: RS(T) + serial # or 2 letter Oblast for Ukr stations.

7. ARRL November Sweepstakes Contest, CW. 2100Z Sat (4 PM EST) to
0300Z Mon (10 PM EST). 160-10M CW. Work each station only once per
contest, not per band. Exchange: QSO#, Precedence, Your Call, Check
(last two years of year licensed), ARRL/RAC section. Precedence: one of
the following: Q = QRP. A = low power. B = high power. U = unlimited
(can use packet spots), M = multi-op, S = School. So, my first QSO
exchange would be 1 B K4BAI 54 GA. Some of you may recognize that as the
beginning of a message header in ARRL message format. Single ops are
limited to 24 hours of operation. Minimum off period is 30 minutes.
That means if you stop at 2300Z, in order to count the time as off time,
you must wait until 2331 or later for your next QSO. This contest is a
lot of fun for any CW operator. Slower stations tend to operate higher
in the bands. There is a club aggregate score competition (for a
gavel), so be sure to put your club name in the header of your Cabrillo
log. For SECC use exactly: "SOUTH EAST CONTEST CLUB."

8. 4 State QRP Group Second Sunday Sprint. 0100-0300Z Monday (Sunday
night local time). 160-10M CW/SSB. 5W max power. Exchange: RS(T) +
SPC + 4S member # or power. Try around 7122 kHz CW. The other usually
used frequencies (14060 and 3564 kHz) are likely to be covered by SS QRM.

9. K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). 20, 40, 80M CW. Max speed: 20WPM.
Exchange: Name + SPC. You can use your NAQP CW contest module.
Frequencies about 030-040 kHz. These frequencies are likely to be
covered by SS stations this month.

10. WorldWide Side Band Activity Contest, Every Monday night local
date. 0100-0159Z Tuesday. 160-10M SSB. Exchange: RS + age/gender
group: OM, YL, YL Youth, or Youth.

11. QRP Fox Hunt. 40M on Tuesdays. Same as #2 above except the
frequency range is 7030-7050 kHz and the scheduled foxes are WX2S,
STEVE, NJ and KR0U, TIM, CO. Both should be workable on 80 from our
area. 5W max power.

12. Phone Fray. Every Tuesday night local date. 0230-0259Z Wed. 15,
20, 40, 80, 160M SSB. 100W max power. Exchange: Name + SPC. You can
use your NAQP SSB Contest Module. Look around 21325, 14250, 7175, 3800,
and 1875 kHz.

13. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Three separate one-hour mini-tests
every Wednesday local date. 1300Z, 1900Z, 0300Z (Thursday UTC date).
160-10M CW. Exchange: Name + CWOps # or SPC. Look around 023-052 kHz on
most bands, but lower on 160M.

Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and a lot of QSOs. I will try
to be full time or nearly full time in ARRL SS CW. Hope to work a lot
of old friends and new ones alike.

73, John, K4BAI
For SECC.
