Don't give up. You should try shorting the feed line of your 80/160m
OCF and tune it with a tuner to make it a T vertical. It should work
fine with just one radial. For a long time K4BAI was shorting the feed
line of his 80 meter Inverted V and not using any radials. When he ran
his amp he could work some EU stations. We recently improved his antenna
to a "real" Inverted L. He lives on a pretty small city lot and we put
just one 130 foot long radial on it zig zagging into the bushes in his
backyard. I think he feels he might be getting out better than he did
with his old antenna. Plus he's not dealing with RF issues inside his
shack anymore. He could probably comment on that.
