[SECC] SECC Club Status

I was hoping when I volunteered to be club president that maybe activity
and interest in the club might improve. Unfortunately it's just the same
status quo and I'm dealing with the same issues that K4BAI dealt with.
I've asked for volunteers for some club activities but I've had no
feedback at all. I guess I don't understand why this is? I can't do
everything myself (like John did) because if that happens we aren't a
club. I can tell you that I don't plan on being the club president
forever, like John was. I took over because no one else stepped up. I've
given us a good framework to move forward with a new SECC webpage and
email reflector that's brought us forward from old 1980's technology.
After a few years (or even maybe sooner) I plan to move on and if no one
steps up to be a leader I will just move on and Y'all can figure it all out.

I've observed from comments made on the reflector in the past that there
are some members of the SECC who seem to dwell on the past that this is
still "W4AN's club".  Bill passed away 17 years ago and it's time to
move past that. I get it that Bill didn't like in person meetings and
that's why we never had any. Some other old time club members still hold
that same view. Maybe it's time to move on from that philosophy?

Here are some ideas I have

  * Hold a yearly club meeting (maybe in person) or at a minimum have
    one online on Zoom
  * Have regular Zoom meeting presentations for club members to attend.
I know many other contest clubs are doing this. I need someone else
other than me to coordinate this. I already have enough on my plate
after GQP logs are submitted and I have to start the log checking
    process..
  * Many SECC members belong to multiple contest clubs. The SECC
constantly has higher club scores than those other clubs around us.
I would propose that everyone submit their contest scores for ARRL
sponsored contests that have a club competition to SECC. You can
submit your other scores to your local contest club if you wish to
    do that.
  * Get on the air and submit your scores for SECC. We have many club
members on the roster that I've never heard on the air ever or
haven't been on in many years.  I'm not proposing having an activity
requirement but if someone hasn't been on the air in a contest in
over 3-4 years that's telling me they aren't interested in
contesting (which is the purpose of SECC) and maybe Chaz should
purge those calls from the roster.?  Chaz and I did a purge about
the time I took over as president removing SK's and others who've
moved away. Maybe we should do more purges?

I can't do all this by myself.  We need more club members to step up.
I'm looking forward to feedback and discussion on the SECC reflector on
this subject.
