[SECC] SECC Club Status

good morning, Jeff. I'd be happy to help but frankly, I dont know
what needs to be or should be done. SECC is the only contest club I've been
in and what we do is all I've ever known. From my perspective, all I do is
append SECC to my contest score submissions. Not sure why - it doesnt seem
to mean anything or compete with any other club. For example, the only
other club I'm in - NFARL - competes with another club during GAQP -
whichever club wins gets gavel or something (cant remember the details).
Also, when I submit my GAQP score to NFARL, I might get a certificate for
best overall score or most CW QSOs or something - as they have an
intraclub competition. That makes it fun and more purposeful to submit a
score with 'NFARL' appended. Perhaps there is some greater competition
between SECC and other clubs that I'm just not aware of...
I do think the reflector is valuable - I've gotten good advice on antennas
and made to realize I need another half mile of radials for my 160m
inverted L :)
I've also learned that SO2R is the way to improves scores but I just
dont have the gear to do it properly (I need band pass filters)
Each club is different - maybe this lack of face-to-face meetings is just
the kind of club SECC... but each club does need a purpose and as a newbie,
I'm not exactly sure what our purpose is.
Thanks for all you do and PLEASE let me know how I can help - I'm willing,
just not sure whats needed...
