When WK-2 is being controlled by the computer, it sends "status bytes" to the computer each time the speed pot setting is changed. The status bytes indicate the rotational position of the pot. It is up to the software developer to decide whether his program processes this info and adjusts the speed. The Winkeyer software manual cautions against allowing both the program and the speed pot to set the speed, which is probably why most programmers don't do it.
