Re RTTY...
Putting RTTY and the other digital modes into the CW category was one way of inviting those folks to join in.
I don't think we need to change any rules though.  Plus it is too late to make effective changes.
The logging sofware writers mentioned RTTY/Digital changes as being problems too.

But...    However...  Wait!
In our current rules, We have encouraged folks to put RTTY, PSK or any digital mode into the log.
While the Qs count for CW, there is nothing to prevent us from offering an award for any mode.... all outside of any rule changes.
If someone would like to sponsor an award plaque or prize for a special (RTTY) mode, I can break that information out of the logs submitted, and declare separate scores.
Heck, we could do Ford, Chevvy, and Dodge too.
The "Bonus" Prizes are a good example of this kind of creativity.

All it takes is a motivated sponsor for an "idea", and some support from the GQP Team.
With our new Team Players and jobs, here is how to do it.  (Recommended)

Someone gets an idea, makes the award rules, and gets a Sponsor ($?).
The GQP team, mostly the Publicity, Prize, Plaque and Web team players iron out a plan, working with the "inventor". (Quickly).
If a simple plan can be agreed, we each take our part of the action and DO it.
For example, I would put announcement copy on the web site.  Someone has to take the job of making the copy.
And other jobs may (or not) need to be assigned.

My feeling is that our rule set is pretty good now, and forms a basis for many possibilities as shown by the Bonus Prize idea last year.

In any event, I had planned to analyze the mode entries for RTTY/digital content, as a bit of statistics.
Perhaps a set of certificates to those who enter digital modes is possible, as a trial.
That would all be for me to do, and would be a follow up to the main run of recoginition.

So RTTY/Digital fans... Unite...  you have nothing to loose but "phase sync".  or something.
Cook up an idea.

Subject: [SECC] RTTY in GQP

Mike,

I noticed in the GQP rules that RTTY and the digital modes have been grouped with CW. I think you should make RTTY a separate mode. We should encourage stations outside of Georgia to work us on as many bands/modes as possible.

This will also be a chance for those of you in the club that like to do RTTY contesting to get on that mode so we have some activity. Maybe someone would be interested in sponsoring a RTTY plaque as well ?

73, Jeff

P.S. We will be getting some good PR on the GQP on http://www.radio-sport.net . I just finished composing an email  with some GQP information to NN3W for a writeup he will be doing in the next week.
