I believe that this came up last year as well and the idea of operating a contest station from the Hamfest was kicked around... it would have been a neat thing to have the three teams (SECC, ACG, and TCG) each set up a station at a different local site and bang away for a trophy - kind of like a miniture World Radiosport competition...
I'll be at the firehouse for 36 hours beginning Friday night; I may drag a radio and a piece of wire along with me. Don't put me on a team just yet... I'll let you know by Thursday if I'll be part-time.
As a general question: the Fire Station sits nearly underneath a cell tower... sadly, I can't put an HF antenna on it, but should I expect issues from the SHF (?) transmitters if I throw a dipole between two trees in the vicinity (75-100 feet from the tower base)?
