Well, at least there is something loud and obnoxious beating in my chest.
I am home now and recuperating.   I left the hospital on Saturday.  I'm in good spirits and feel pretty good.  No pain to speak of save for some muscle soreness from not moving around a lot and a twinge when I shift/stretch something that has been cut/shifted/moved.
I have 6-8 weeks for "full" recovery.  I can drive in 3-4 weeks and increase other activities as I feel able to do so.  I will not be "pushing it" at all.
My mom is back up here now to stay with me during the day for this first week and then I'll be on my own---
First off I need to thank Dr. James (Jim) Kauten (W4TE) for being such a magnificent surgeon.   I'm sure he'll tell you it's just another day at the "salt-mines" but whenever I mentioned his name, it seemed he had worked on either that person, one of their relatives or friends or friend-of-of-a-friend.  Anyone I spoke to was very impressed.  He was always helpful with answering questions/concerns and you know immediately, that he knows his "stuff".   That place he works (Piedmont Hospital) is definitely a fine place to be if you have to have anything major done.

Thanks also to Jim, KT4MM for passing along all the updates/progress reports from my family.  I have some really fantastic friends in this hobby and it's been nice knowing they were there for me when needed.
Thanks for your Cards, emails, concern and prayers.  I'll fire off another update in a week or so.
