I was told at our local tag office (Glynn County) that Georgia No Longer Offers a FREE Amateur Radio License Plate.
I was able to save a few bucks on the tag fee by purchasing a standard license plate to replace my Amateur Radio plate. I put my “Ham Tag” on the front of my vehicle…..
As far as I’m concerned, Georgia can take their Vanity tags and….. Well you get the idea!

Comments:

I wasted tooo much time on 15m.

A rare and happy night for me when I make it to 40 Q's.  First time I used my middle
name Ed.  That must have done the trick?  Thanks!!

Still time to register for an SECC team.  E-mail me ASAP.  73, John, K4BAI.

NCCC invites all to practice for the SSB Sprint on Friday night in
NA, 0230 to 0300Z, Sept. 17.

Rules and strategy are different enough to warrant our usual warm-up
before Sprint, NAQP, etc.
AND, we all need to practice the two exchanges, usually spoken live,
no DVK for most.

On Friday, mults count once (not per band),
20-40-80m only, and your choice of power- QRP, LP, HP.
Rules for the Friday practice are the same as the for real thing on
Saturday:
  http://www.ncjweb.com/sprintrules.php

CU  Friday and Saturday!

Comments:

FT1000MP, 100W, TH6DXX, dipole, inverted vee.  Bands seemed fair for
receiving,
but I felt and apparently was weak all night.  Don't know why.  Everything
performed as usual except that other sprinters didn't seem to hear me very
well.  Hope to do better next week.  Thanks for QSOs with those who
could hear
me.  73, John, K4BAI.

I remember seeing several postings about NOT having to pay the Vanity Plate charge of $35 on Georgia License plates for HAM call signs.  It is clearly listed as a charge on the renewal form.  So just how does one avoid this charge?  Does the approach vary by county?  Anyone been able to avoid the charge in Fulton County?

Please share your experiences.  Thanks.

My wife just picked hers up yesterday. There was the $20 for the "tag fee" plus $35 for "special tag fee" and then the ad variorum fee.

tnx

I had to pay the $35 in Effingham County (nr Savannah). Has the ARRL, SECC
or SEDXC communicated with the Governor regarding this issue? We all spend
a lot  of $$ to provide the state with free emergency communications!!!

Busy this weekend? Here's a good excuse to relax
instead. Whether you were going to shovel snow,
repair the surf board, or get a tan, get inside.
Sunspots are at a C24 record, and who cares about a CME.

So come and listen to the Arctic CW flutter of the big
guns and small pistols in the Polar Battle, and say
hello to each one that you meet. They're out in force
this time. In their languages, you say "599 001", with
the latter number increasing by one for each encounter!
