Anyone with spare time on Sunday, I'll be operating the County Hunters CW contest (like a QSO Party) while trekking across Colorado and Kansas and can use the Q's.
Below is a listing of the counties and approximate miles spent in each county. The speed limit on I-70 is 75 mph in both states, so do the math for time in county.
The contest time is 1400-2400 Z. Mobile (rover) stations should be just below x.050 KHz and fixed stations just above.
With about 30 minutes in many of the counties, I'll do 15min on 40 and 15 min on 20. With two antennas, the band change is instantaneous. Not sure if I will have a chance to self spot, so I can use that help as well.
tnx

Norm, planning to make the run in the morning. 1400 is an early start for Colorado. I'm guessing I'm. Be on the air about 1600, maybe a bit earlier. With the later start for me, I expect to reach 2400 before we get to our destination in Topeka for the night. I plan to be mostly on 40 and 20, but also 80 if 20 gets too long late in the day. I'll target hanging out at x.046.5 if possible. Some of the counties will be a quick corner and will try to stop to extend the time where I can. Also, there is about 10 miles of I-70 just east of Denver where I-70 runs the county border between Adams and Arapahoe back and forth for very short periods before staying put in Arapahoe. Hi Mike:
That's good news. Hope you can get things arranged with the potential
driver. Just explain to her how important it is to county hunters and
how much fun you'll have.
If you can take a guess on which counties you'll be running, I'll include
it on a list I'm building for the forum. If not, knowing you plan to
operate on Sunday on I70 is good enough.
GL and I'll be listening for you!

Norm, as luck would have it, I happen to be driving back from Vail CO
to GA (part way) beginning Sunday the 27th. Will overnight in
Topeka. If I can talk my wife into doing the driving, I could hit
20-25 counties along I-70. That may be a big if. And I'm guessing we
won't be on the road by 8am CO time, either.
