I did not expected much at all as far as conditions go so I was somewhat surprised to have worked as many as I did. Like others, the pipeline to WI, MN, IL. was continual on my antenna. I was doing the best I could to try and get more multipliers but some of the states just did not want to cooperate. It was fun working 10m once again.

Comments:

As always, the 10M contest was interesting.
Not much Friday night except locals
Saturday morning had a pipe from GA to MN
Saturday afternoon was dead
Saturday evening had a 45 minute opening to S.A.

Sunday morning had a Caribbean opening then an intense opening to the NE.
Rate meter hit 275/hr
Best DX: EA8, ZL1. Plenty of ND, SD, NE, DC this year.
Anomalies: Could not find an Alabama station to work despite calling CQ to
the West for hours

Station: Orion 1, Alpha 76A @ 1200 W, 5 El 10 at 90 ft.

Comments:

Lots of fun despite very shaky conditions. Friday night the band closed early,
had very little time to sample the morning opening on Saturday. Sunday there
was a pipeline to MA, IN, IL and MI. Later some prop to CA, OR and WA and
nothing closer. 10 is an odd band when condx are right on the edge. Maybe
next year will be better?

Comments:

FT1000MP, Alpha 78, 1 KW, TH6DXX. Band conditions varied from very poor to only
fair. Lot of activity when the band was open. Worked only EA6 and 9J2 outside
the Americas on the first day. Worked two EA8s before church Sunday and a few
Europeans after I got home from church. Assume I may have missed a pretty good
Eu opening Sunday morning. Worked at least three Hawaii stations and no Alaska.
Think I worked most US states other than LA and possibly WY. K1DW from LA was
visiting in our town in GA this weekend. Thanks for all QSOs. 73, John,
K4BAI.

Comments:

With my antennas stuck on the Midwest and the loop not checked out after Hurricane Matthew, I wanted to at least pass out a few points. Conditions here were as to be expected and I should have stayed on longer Saturday because Sunday was not as good. There was a wonderful opening to upper Midwest where I put 104 contacts from IA, MO, IL, MN, WI & MI in the log; most in one long run. Captured most of the West & West Coast on Saturday but with nothing pointing South, I only worked one PY off the back of the beam. However, did add HI & a XE who found me. Only mults on Sunday were LA, NV, AZ, TX and a ZL which was the only benefit of being assisted.

It was great to hear Savannah on the air as AK4PI, N5GNA, KC2NYU & KB1WEI all found me to say Hi. Overall, I had a great time and enjoyed a number of chats with folks.

No matter what the conditions, the old saying...There's no meters like 10 meters...still applies. Thanks to the contest group at ARRL for sponsoring the contest & thanks for the Q's,

Merry Christmas - Jere
