I'm going to Orlando. The hotels around Universal Studios are reasonable and not real far from the Hamcation. That's where I'm staying. BTW there is a contest dinner on Friday night hosted by the FCG.  https://floridacontestgroup.org/2018-orlando-contest-dinner/  On Saturday there is also a FCG meeting around noon at the Golden Corral on West Colonial Drive, just a few blocks west of the fairgrounds.

Well my XYL (just out of the blue) brought up the Orlando Hamcation.  Now I was never one to look a gift horse in the mouth so I (of course) agreed immediately.  Now I would like to maximize the experience in the hopes of taking future trips of a similar nature.  :)

I am looking for some advice on things like:

Best place to stay
Do we do the flea market tail gating or just walk around
Any specific events you might  recommend

Any extra information would be helpful.  The advertisements are great, but nothing beats first hand knowledge from folks who have no skin in the game.
