My understanding is that WWBV will continue it 60 kilohertz signal that's used to synchronize the estimated 50 million radio controlled clocks.

Subject: [SECC] WWV shutting down

Heard at a contesting class I gave Saturday this was happening. ARRL and CQ-Contest say it too. They do time standards, propagation information, clock synchronizations, etc. Propagation prediction programs use that info too. Don't know if it will help, but there is an online petition to sign. Need 100K sigs by Sept 15th. Please pass it around.

CQ-Contest has this from Frank, W3LPL
This is an exact quote from page NIST-25 of the proposed FY2019 NIST budget:
"NIST will discontinue the dissemination of the U.S. time and frequency via the NIST radio stations in Hawaii and Ft. Collins, CO. These radio stations transmit signals that are used to synchronize consumer electronic products like wall clocks, clock radios, and wristwatches, and may be used in other applications like appliances, cameras, and irrigation controllers."
