More Georgia QSO Party Updates :

We will be adding the Mult-2 Transmitter class back to the Georgia QSO Party. Thanks to Fred, WW4LL for offering to sponsor the plaque. I will be sponsoring the DX SSB plaque that he was previously sponsoring.

I've also decided for this year only that I am allowing Multi-Op entries to take place from more than one station location in a specific county. You cannot the same call sign from two different counties. If you are Multi-Single you are only allowed to have one station location on the air at a time.  Mult-2 Transmitter entries should note that their transmitters should be on separate bands. Anyone who breaks this rule will be reclassified as a CHECKLOG. I'm doing this so those who don't have remote capabilities can still do a Multi-Op this year.

I'm surprised no one has shown interest in being a bonus station. You will be giving out 100 point QSO's and will be in demand. Note that self-spotting is allowed in GQP so you will have lots of out-of-state stations wanting to work you. I need to make a decision on this by Thursday. If I don't get any feedback soon I will probably just have K4BAI and I will share W4AN and act as a bonus station.

I've been thinking about a way to create more activity from fixed Georgia stations in the GQP to make up for the loss of rovers.  Here are a couple ideas :

1) Have GQP bonus stations that a QSO is worth 100 points. My idea is to have the GQP sponsors W4AN (the SECC club call) and W4NT (The SEDXC Club call) as bonus stations. These calls would be operated as Multi-Multi from different locations. To operate using one of these call signs you need to be a member of the respective club. Anyone who operates using one of these calls will need to reserve a band/mode beforehand so we have coordination that the call isn't being used at the same time on a band/mode. Here are the proposed available spots :

160 SSB  W4AN and W4NT

160 CW  W4AN and W4NT

75 SSB   W4AN and W4NT

80 CW   W4AN and W4NT

40 CW   W4AN and W4NT

40 SSB   W4AN and W4NT

20 CW   W4AN and W4NT

20 SSB   W4AN and W4NT

I would also ask that if you are interested in operating a bonus station that you are on the band/mode assigned to you when it's open. Since neither SECC or SEDXC are eligible for the club competition you can't counted the score towards a club score. Also note during the time when you aren't operating one of the bonus stations you can use your home call. We could also offer a certificate for anyone who works W4AN or W4NT on all of these band slots. I would also add that if you choose a spot make sure you have a good antenna on that band. We don't want someone using 100 watts and  dipole doing 20 meters. It would be better to have a station that has a Tribander/ KW or better as a minimum setup. Same for the lower bands. I would like everyone running a amp so out of state stations can her you well. this idea might generate some nice pileups for those who choose to participate.

2) Allow distributed multi-ops. They are allowing this for the Florida QSO Party (see https://floridaqsoparty.org/) this year. Right now we just have a Multi-Single category. For this year only we could add a Multi-2 category. So for example say you are operating one of the special 1x1 NFARL calls like N4N. If you are multi-single you could use this call with only one transmitted signal at a time from any station location in your county. For Multi-2 you could have two transmitted signals from two different stations at a time in your county. It's very important that you don't use the same call sign from two DIFFERENT counties.

For those of you that are worried about logging programs calculating scores incorrectly don't worry. I have my own program when I check logs that calculate scores. Also it will be easy to promote this on CQ-Contest before Saturday.

If anyone else has any other ideas to get more stations on the air during GQP please forward them to me. We can discuss this for a day or two and make a decision whether to move forward with these ideas. Any thoughts?
