I have eight 130 foot elevated radials on my 160 meter Inverted L. (about 65 ft vertical and the rest slopping down.) They are all 7-8 feet above the ground. My antenna is in the woods so trees make a good support for the radial wires. It seems to work for me since I usually can work just about everything I hear when running the amp at about 800-900 watts.

You can always find differing opinions -- and "facts". I found this to be both credible and logical.
N6LF found elevated radials are good, but also gave this caveat:“…elevated radial systems are subject to a number of ills. They are very sensitive to details of layout, soil characteristics, nearby conductors, coupling to feed lines, and other factors. Like ground radials, elevated radial systems work much better if the screen is not too sparse: in other words, try to use 12 or more radials. You will be much happier”
Some say a few feet up are good, but he recommends 6 meters up for 160 meters (about 20 ft)
I too use K9AY loops for receiving. Took them down to remove some trees and haven't put them back up yet. Can anyone recommend a good place to go that discusses advantages of different loop lengths? Like to research a bit before rehanging them.

Elevated radials get mixed reviews. John ON4UN (SK) used them with his 4 square antennas and I had a MULTEE with 4 revealed radials made from the Spi-ro 50 foot radials with good luck helping me to 167 DXCC entities on 160 SSB. Best DX was a UA0 in zone 25 across from JA. I also have worked Japan on CW just wish they allowed SSB on 160. Working DX on a one haft acre lot is possible but requires thing beyong the box.
Hope to be back on the air soon. I have a Spi-ro 100 foot dipole I hope to put up at 65 feet as a dipole L. My original version let me work PY3CEJ in South Brazil and a 5N0 easily through a big pile ups. I got the only 5-9 from the 5N0 and only 20 over 9 from PY3CEJ. I have the QSLs to prove this.
