...my last message concerning Tom's condition....as he will be going
home early in the morning tomorrow from ARMC!!! I spoke to him directly
by phone about an hour ago (7PM, Wednesday) and he told me that his
doctor had decided to let him go hom first thing in the morning!  I
know this is great news for all.  He told me he just began snapping
out of it last night when his appetite returned and his nausea just
'went away', as he put it!  He said he had spent some time this afternoon
just calling a few people and he was somewhat apprehensive, as he himself
noted, about overdoing before he had recovered completely!!! So, after
giving us a real scare, it appears Tom is out of the woods! (By the
way, if you have not yet seen the K5K article and cover photo on the
August, 2001 QST (which is just out), you can see good photos of all
the gang, Tom included, on pp. 47-52, where Bob Allphin and the entire
operation are described and detailed.  Finally, I hope you all understand
that I am NOT (contrary to rumor) a professional "Angel of Darkness" who
doesn't do anything but write up medical reports on N4XP and W4GTS (who
by the way, I visited on Monday of this week and who continues to hold
his own at the convalescent home here!) and that I am happy that I can
now dispense with my updates and return in my happy retirement to my
full-time job as a DXER!!!  I trust it will be some considerable time
before you are forced to read my medical missives! HI!  Best 73 to all,
