Attention Cluster Users:

The antenna for the 145.63 MHz access port was replaced today. This is the
port for 1200 baud access. In place of an older 3 dB omni, Tony KD4K and I
put up a 6 dB Diamond omni with new coax.

While I was up there I realized that for some time, the 1200 baud port has
been connected to the yagi antenna (pointed at my house) and NOT to the 3
dB omni that was up there until today. Very obviously, this may have made
1200 baud access more difficult unless you happen to be one of my neighbors!
The yagi antenna was put in place for the uplink between the cluster and
Sawnee Mtn and is, as of today, again being used for that purpose.

So, if you tried 1200 baud access in the past and could not quite connect,
you may have better success now. I will keep a 1200 baud access point on
Sawnee for those that don't have a 2400 baud TNC.

While up there, I relocated one of the radios into a 19" rack mountable
enclosure that K9AY generously donated. I've got some pictures of the
installation that I will soon post on the web if anyone wants to see what
the Sawnee Mtn. setup looks like.

I now have the cluster running on a DSL service that has a static IP. What
this means is that the DSL equipment is not likely to be cycled very often
by my DSL provider and telnet users should stay connected. The address
remains: ks4q.dns2go.com Type in this address just like you would a
numerical IP address. If you have a web browser and not a logging program
telnet program, you can type: telnet:ks4q.dns2go.com in place of a
www.xyz.com address.

The hyperterminal program should open. Make sure you turn 'local echo' on
as an option in the Hyperterminal program or you may not be able to see what
you type in!

We are now at 24 days continuous uptime.
