TO4E from Europa can only operate a few hours each day. Their TO4WW
operation during the CQ WW CW was the exception. OPDX shows the approximate
hours they can operate due to lack of gas.
I watched Dx Summit and they seem to be on RTTY or CW most days and there
are often pirates on. On 40 the other day there were two stations signing
TO4E with one Khz of each other. I see spots from Europeans saying the beam
heading is wrong, too. This AM they were on 28460 and W8 and W1 were
reporting loud signals but they were ESP here. It almost sounded like
backscatter from the SE. About the same time 3B9FR was on 28449 with a S9
signal. They went to 15 (21271) and they were exactly the same. Finally
they peaked up to S3
and I worked them on one call. I am still looking for them on 24 and 18 Mhz
SSB for new ones.
Best bet for 24Mhz is the 1300 to 1345 Z operating period. They were there
a few days ago and I heard N4NX calling them but they went QRT. 17 meters
should be easy in their 1500 to 2000Z time slot as 5R8 and 3B9FR come thru
well at those times. I was away the one day so far they worked 18138 SSB.
I understand they are just putting up 80 and 160 antennas but coming on at
0400 (after sunlight) does not bode well for NA QSOs.
See everyone at the SEDXC Xmas party at WB4SQ's.
