Hello all:
This weekend is the annual Georgia QSO Party, sponsored by SECC and
SEDXC. It is extremely important that every Georgia station be operated
in the party as much as can conveniently be done. There will be a
number of mobile operators out. See the announced routes on the
website. But the success of a state QSO party depends also on the
number of in-state stations operating and calling CQ from the target
state. That will create and increase interest by other hams, some of
whom will participate even though they don't plan in advance to do so.
It will make for fun for everyone if we have a lot of Ga participation.
If we don't, it will be more of a bust and a failure. Many states
have many more hams and can really have active QSO Parties, the most
successful recently being California, Florida, and New England. Let's
keep ours at least in the second tier of QSO parties.
All the information can be found on the Ga QSO Party webpage:
http://gqp.contesting.com. In addition to the rules and projected
mobile routes, you can find forms and logging program moudules to
download.
The first in importance is to get on the air and be active during the
party. Second is to send in your log to NE4S.
Don't just answer other stations calling CQ GA and other Ga stations,
but call CQ from Georgia yourself. Even QRP stations with ordinary
antenna systems can have fun and "run" stations from the target state in
a state QSO Party. Sometimes, it can be almost like being rare DX.
Listen to what happens when a GA mobile crosses a county line and starts
giving out a new county, for example.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me, NE4S, KU8E, N4PN,
etc.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend and thanks for everything you can do to
promote activity in this contest.
The new South East Contest Club memorial callsign, W4AN, will be QRV in
the contest this weekend in the GQP, operated by Jeff, KU8E.
73,
John, K4BAI.
VP, SECC.
