Hi All,
The county list for the GQP is filling up very nicely... and we haven't even
heard from
GQP rover veterans K4BAI, N4PN and NY4N what their routes will be. Anyone
in FLA who is interested is also invited to join in on the fun...
Please encourage your local radio club members to participate. The more
activity the more
fun it will be for all. We need to keep the interest up from out of state in
operating our QSO
party. One way to do this is to have lots of rovers covering the state.
Georgia has the 2nd most
number of counties behind Texas , which has 254.

There are plenty of rare and avaliable counties to make everyone want to
work you. A rover pileup is almost as good as it gets...
not too far off from a big pileup when operating from the Carribean.
It doesn't take much to go rovering... just a radio that will operate on 12
volts from your car battery and some type of antenna.
Mike. NE4S, might want to clarify the rover rules . There is nothing in the
rules that say your antenna has to be connected to your
car. So technically you could drive to a county, setup a small portable
pushup mast with antenna OR throw an antenna temporarily
into a tree and operate. My friend K8MR did this succesfully in the PA QSO
Party. The only qualification is that you operate from at least two
counties.
If you can't go rovering....Fixed activity is important as well. If you are
a fixed station don't just sit on 20 meters. Try to work as
many bands/modes (CW/SSB) as possible. Try 40 meters during the day to work
the close in guys from FL,AL and TN... There is a potential for
lots of QSO's from those close in states.
Again ... our number one objective is to keep up the interest for those
participants from outside of Georgia.
Please email me any activity updates. I will update the spreadsheet and get
Mike to add it to the GQP webpage.
