[SEDXC] [QSL-Net] Confirming amateur status

Hylton,

There are two good sources of callsign-lookups, and both mention the
email address (when they have it on file):

1) http://www.eham.net/

2) http://www.qrz.com/index.html

They do not provide a way to search for email address connections to
callsigns that I could find-although I did not work very hard looking for it.

But instead I used an ordinary Google
http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en&btnG=Google+Search search on YOUR
email address and found two references that contained your callsign.
But that was because you INCLUDE it in your email address Nickname in
parenthesis. I also did mine, and ignoring the ACTUAL email address
in the results (e.g. NOT counting the "n4xy" part of my email
address, and only looking for "n4xy" in the text results) there were
quite a few.

However, I suspect using this reverse search (from email address TO
callsign) through Google is not going to be a very reliable
methodology; but rather will be dependent on what the (email)
addressee has been up to in ham radio; and will thereby determine
whether his/her email address will be found in the Google results.

The Google-search approach IS better than nothing, and meanwhile, I'm
going to forward this email to a couple of other Reflectors where
there are a number of hams who are very active with QSLs and QSLing.
Perhaps some of them will have a better suggestion.

Please let me know what you find out.
