Guys,

I just thought I would send this note to the group to see if any of you had some time to participate.
I know some times Charles is short handed, and he would rather have more Ham's then less to help.

I have done this for the past few years, and its a lot of fun watching the kids react to some of the Halloween performers that are along the trails.
It's about a 1 mile walk... As you go down the trail there are stops on the way, where different people do a short performance.
The folks that do the performance along the trails really go way out with there costumes, and with the darkness of being in the woods, it sets the Halloween mood. Sometimes they sing/dance, tell stories, and they really get into the characters.

What the Ham Volunteers do is take a small group down the trail (About 20 to 30 people), and coordinate movements to each performance.
Sometimes one performance lasts longer, and the kids ask questions, so we have to slow down the group following up the rear so we don't bottle neck on the trails. This is coordinated with a net control at the beginning of the trail. Charles and his wife really do a great job with this every year.

It is at the Nature Center off Wileo Road in Atlanta near Roswell Road.
If you have time, I am sure Charles would appreciate your help any night you may have.
You can write him at below email address.

Thanks,
Keith, K4KAL

Halloween Hikes 2007
Hi Keith,
I am glad that you called! I thought I had sent you an email about the Halloween Hikes this year... Sorry about that! This is the information I sent out earlier. looking forward to seeing you at the Hikes... As you may have noticed I now have a new email address. Either address is still good.

The four nights this year are as follows:

Friday Night - OCT 19From 6:15 PM Until about 10:00 PM
Saturday Night - OCT 20From 6:15 PM Until about 10:00 PM
Friday Night - OCT 26 From 6:15 PM Until about 10:00 PM
Saturday Night - OCT 27 From 6:15 PM Until about 10:00 PM

We have to be at the Center by no later than 6:15 PM each night to get a parking space and get ready. We have to be at the trail head before 7:00. You can work any evenings you want to. I would like to know which nights you can help in advance if possible, however we don't turn anyone away who wants to help. I need to have about 8 to 10 people helping each night if possible. We have a great group and many work all four nights... ( I think it's the Pizza!)

You need to bring is a 2 Meter handheld and a flashlight. I have extra radios incase of a failure during the events. You might want to wear a jacket as moving around in the woods on a lighted trail gets cool.

We have two different frequencies we use.
We monitor the IBM repeater until 6:30 145.290 MHz 88.5 Hz tone
We Operate on 147.535 MHz Simplex from 6:30-10:00 PM

Charles Turner K0CZR

If you have any questions or suggestions, please call me anytime...
Thanks Again
Charles
