Did they implement those with a MAX232 variant or with discrete components?
If you just need a MAX232 more quickly than you could get one shipped, I've
got one I'll give you if you'll come to SPSU in Marietta to get it. The
shipping will cost more than the part pretty much anywhere you'd order one.
I'd also advise soldering in a socket if you've got the room on the board. It
will make future repairs a simple matter of dropping in a new chip.
I've got a full size DIP and four or five of the SMT ones. Take your pick.
They're arguably the single most useful chip created for the homebrewer and
as such I try to keep one on hand at all times.
