I didn't see a report posted from the M-M so here is a quickie off the top
of my feeble ole head. Conditions were just as bad for the big guns as they
were for the peanut whistles. The storm front that passed over the stations
was a long thin line moving perpendicularly and was soon past. The resulting
QRN did not seem to be an issue on the high bands during the day because the
high bands propagation was non-existent. It didn't seem to be an issue on
the low bands either for the same reason. Essentially that left 20m and 40m
the tote the load. It was a good thing too in a way because we were short of
operators, not short of quality but short of quantity. We were able to
concentrate on 20m and 40m with three full-time operators on each. I was a
little disappointed in the local club participation, which I thought we had
pretty well stimulated. We had two from the Griffin club and one from the
Fayette club but such is the life of a contester. I know the Fayette club
was activated at the NOAA weather station in Peachtree City.  I don't think
we had 20 QSO's on 10m, 15m, or 160m. There was a little more activity on
80m but nothing to QSL about. I think we ended up with about 1,700 QSO's and
that came primarily from 20m and 40m. I worked 10m, 15m and 80m and I don't'
remember working one mobile or QRP station. I think we worked 49 counties if
my calculations were correct. We have learned an important lesson about
competition from living around Atlanta and have subsequently become very
resilient. When we knocked off early last night we chose to invoke that
lesson, "Tomorrow is another day!"

I'm just trying to find a little humor in here somewhere but on the more
serious side, I do want to congratulate and thank all the participants in
the GQP, particularly all those mobiles that we didn't get to work. Thanks
for all you do. We will work every one of you today. If not, however, just
wait until tomorrow.
