Comments: Great Fun for two hours, no fun though when "on call" & GET CALLED
IN!!
Heard lots of great ops including W5UN who worked me right after an F, an
EA, and a DL--wow--could EU ever hear HIM with his 140 ft tall 4 sqaure!!
W8JI worked some JAs just before me, and K9AY who was working everyone.
Great to hear lots of SEDX members!
Equipment: FT-1000D, Alpha 78
Antenna: Quarter wave sloper at 43 ft. The W2AU "big signal balun" shorted
on the 160 dipole at 80 ft...a friend observed, "Well it lasted 3 months
with your Alpha. What did you expect for a 'store bought balun? ' " Putting
up the sloper was the fastest thing I could do to get on the air with an
hour for "antenna time."
Headed out the door and up the tower, taking down the 160 dipole and going
to try a 1/2 wave inverted L and about a 1/4 mile of radials. Hope the
rabbits, squirrels, coyettes, foxes, and dogs don't get tangled up in them.
THANKS TO BOB, for urging us to participate.
