Subject: GQP coverage update

Good Monday Morning.

NY4N has checked in and posted a route that covers the NE corner of GA, all those open areas up there.
Jeff and Becky also will monitor 80M for close/neighbor state calls.
The web is updated to show the current coverage, Jeff and Becky really made a difference. Thanks.

I think we still have 33 open counties.
A band of counties east of Spalding and some scattered few in the south are open.
W4JO is reworking his run, and I will probably do a run on Sunday to catch a few more.
Tell us of your plans if you have not checked in.
"Now is the time for all good hams to come to the aid of the GA QSO party."

We did get a great publicity boost from NS3T's article at:
http://www.radio-sport.net/gaqp09_pre.htm ,
There have been several notes mentioning the posting.
A big thanks to Jamie Dupree for this excellent favor.

At the Atlanta Radio Club on Thursday night, I presented our slide show on GQP.
There was a very lively discussion, and plans are afoot for a club operation.
Several Rover efforts were also discussed.
One member is putting up a 40M wire quad to work CA and the west.

Another member discussed an Aero Rover, flying over several counties.
The question was "Do I have to land in each county?" My answer was "Nope".
Just keep on truckin', er... flying. "Just be sure of your location and county."
This operation was described as very IFFY, so it was not committed.
But we do hope they can pull it off, it might be a FIRST in the country.

ARC, the Walton club, and a few more are setting up operations like Field Day.
Some of these outings are for fun, some compete with more concentration.
But "Brats and Burgers" or "Mults and QSOs" are both good reasons to enjoy the event.
This will put them in the Multi Multi category, probably Low Power.
We now have a new Plaque award for this kind of operation.

Thanks to all who are working so hard on this, and to all the sponsors and donors who support us for the awards.

I will post any late breaking news as it happens...

73,
Mike

We need new pics, some video would be fun too!

Please use ne4s at iham.us or mike1230 at mcnet.us as my address.
GQP, the fastest growing QSO party, is on 4/11+12 2009.
See gqp.contesting.com !
Be well
