I tried to send this yesterday but I must not have had the correct email
address from which I sent it to be recognized by the reflector. Why
can't computers know when you're close and it's supposed to be ok?
------------------
Not sure Dave why it's not stronger to you. Yes, the 145.41 machine is
the same "Bellsouth" radio club machine (called MATPARC) for Metro ATL
Telephone Pioneers ARC that Jack Berry built and that's been on the air
almost continuously since 1981. Of course, it's effectively the AT&T
employees radio club now and it's located atop their building in
downtown ATL across the connector from GA TECH at 700 foot above the
street.
Their prez and SEDXC member Mark Croney, W4ZF, offered the use (it has
lots of free air time) of the repeater (not ownership as has been
reported in some circles) to members of the DX club as a meet up point a
few months back.
I wish I had the time to start a weekly net there called "How's DX?" as
I believe it would get great publicity for the DX club among newer
hams. The repeater does have wide coverage especially up I-75 with a
remote on Sweat Mtn in NE COBB. There is no PL on either the main site
or that single remote. If you'd like to check coverage, the QCWA holds
a net there on WED at 8PM. Set up you rig for 145.41 and give it a go.
For DXers, it works split, listening down 600 khz!
