General Requirements 
Job Family Responsibilities:

Directs most complex  research  in the development of new products,
materials or processes.
Consults with and provides guidance to a number of departments and senior
management on advanced technical issues. Anticipates industry trends;
ensuring companys competitiveness by advising management on changes to
and/or development of products, and evaluating the impact of new products or
changes to existing ones.  Directs the research and evaluation of new
technologies and software products to determine feasibility and desirability
of incorporating their capabilities within the companys products. Directs
the analysis in support of a most complex technical architecture project.
Conceptualizes and directs the design of most complex product configuration
guidelines, training, rollout and implementation support for technical
architecture projects.        



Key Responsibilities:

Performs special assignments and provides technical advice in area of
expertise. Preempts potential problems and provides effective solutions in
reaction to application of concepts, techniques, knowledge, or processes.
Displays an expert level of critical thinking in applying principles,
theories, and concepts on a wide range of problems.



Education:

BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or
equivalent combination of education and experience.  Certification may be
required in some areas.



Knowledge and Experience:

Demonstrates ability to advance technologies, processes, and practices in
area of specialization or discipline. Serves as the leading point of
authority and/or source of technical/scientific knowledge for area of
expertise. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of organizations business
practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those
issues. Typically 10+ years of successful experience in related field and
successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented
above.  Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.



Direction of Others:

Develops team members through mentoring and coaching in complex subjects.
Provide critical technical guidance to associates and upper management.



Key Working Relationships:

Acts as lead advisor to top management and business partners on advanced
technical matters. Represents the company as the primary external contact.
