While I am not a "native" Atlantan, I consider my self almost a native (here since 1971) I first met Johnny during a session at the Atlanta Radio Club hamfest.

I visited him several times when he was selling equipment and then a few years later he and I manned the 20 meter phone station for the Douglas County Radio club during field day.

I was constantly amazed at how Johnny could picl out calls in pile ups as we worked thru the night.
