Hi Jeff,
 
 6 is a neat little band, and as far a working TRUE DX, what you said is right,  10 watts and a wire dipole is fine in a F2 or big Es band opening.  MUF not making that high with so little sun action, and Es on 6 are mostly early summer events with a little around the new year time.
 
But with a 6 element yagi a good preamp and 1000 watts, 6 is open most every morning of the year  for 500 to 1200 mile contacts via ionoscatter.   With 5 element and 100 watts I make 200+ mile contacts to the south regular, and longer during tropo events.

Plus if you want to  EME on 6M, a KW comes in handy also.

the wall.  I don't remember anybody saying they got these to work yet.

A schematic should be pretty easily obtainable from the vendor.  I don't
remember who made these, though, although there should be a plate somewhere
with that data.

I do seem to recall that the power supply specs for these, while not
impossible, looked like it was going to be a project in and of itself.

I've been tempted to ask for one.  We have folks who have the skillset to
make these work, but there's the issue of time and expense and diminishing
returns.  My experience on six has been that when the band is open, you
don't need a lot of power, but when it's not, power doesn't help much.
