[SEDXC] It's ALIVE!!!

Ok sportsfans...

 

I managed to erect the 40M EDZ today. It runs WNW to ESE as a flat top. This is a wire antenna I have had very good success with in the past at the old QTH in NE PA. I put a brand new one up about 40 feet above ground (about 15 ft above the roof of my house) with each end up about 40+ feet in trees at each end of our property. Not sure when I can accomplish the phinal phase...putting one of the tripods I got from Dick, K2UFT, on the bedroom roof and mounting the center pole 20 ft above the roof, but I am going to try before the upcoming CQ DX WW CW test. 

 

I routed the 450 ladder line inside the attic, down into the shack and, using an Elecraft 4:1 balun (rated at a max of 30W), I was able to work DL5MC, Hal, first try! Man, that receiver on the TS-940 came alive with signals! OBTW: I had cranked the radio down to 5W output (YES, it will go that low without mods) when I QSOed Hal. 

 

At least I have ONE antenna that works as advertised. Now if I can just get the tower and tribander up!!
