Glad some of you worked K4M today but conditions from my QTH to K4M have not
been good. I listened to them on 17 SSB and 15 CW yesterday and all this
afternoon from 2055Z on 18145.

I wired in the amp and turned the beam toward Midway but the signals were
very weak varying from ESP for long periods to an occasional S5. At 2300 I
heard them loud enough to call but they hit one of the ESP times. By 2320
they were more steady at S2 to 3 but working JA and mostly west Coast.

On 17 I run my 40 meter beam which usually worked well but FR5GA and K4M
just have not
been received very well. 20 is where they are much better for me even with
a bent reflector.

There was one 15 or 20 minute period when a J79 was listening up across the
K4M frequency. The JA's are loud on 17 with the beam at K4M. Its funny but
still no KH6's. A W9 (don't know his location) was working a AH6 but you
could just tell a signal was there.

In other directions I worked a page full of DX including 4X4WN, a UX0, and
TY1MS. All on first call. VK and ZL were loud calling K4M too.

I heard N4KG work them on 21295. He reported real signal was 5/5 QSB. They
were S3 and actually louder on the 40 meter beam which is 10 feet above the
KT-34XA. They disappeared right afterward and I think the band went dead.

Its 0120Z and everything from 20 and above is dead except for a few lonely
W6's on 20. First time in a while that 17 went out so fast. Sometimes the
band reopens later but this does not sound like the night.

Were are those spots!
