Rick is a friend of mine up in NJ and was the moving force in the Bell Labs
ARC at Whippany and has been a force in the CQWE contest for decades.  I
have asked Rick for insight into how the New Providence Club got a NWS
permit.  Maybe we can apply the information for another try here next year.
If you are in the Morristown NJ area check out the Great Swamp center as
well as environmental centers ringing the Swamp.  There is also a raptor
rehabilitation center--one of the largest in the US--and an Audubon reserve
bordering the Swamp. The state is not all asphalt!

This is National Wildlife Refuge Week !

The New Providence Amateur Radio Club will be one of the stations around the
country operating special event stations, with special event call signs,
from Wildlife Refuges, to commemorate this week. 
NPARC will be operating from the NEW Great Swamp Wildlife Refuge Visitors
Center, Lee Hill's Rd., Harding Twp., NJ.
Both HF and VHF stations will be in operation.
Youngsters are encouraged to stop by and operate a station for a bit.
SPECIAL certificate will be awarded to youngsters who operate !
Talk In to the New Visitors Center will be on W2LI/R two meter repeater,
147.255 mHz. + 600, PL 141.3 Hz.
We will be using Special Event call sign W2R !
Please look for our station on the air, Friday afternoon, Saturday, and
Sunday. For additional details, see links below, and check out the
attachments included.
