We are now about a week from our next SEDXC meeting, which is on Wednesday,
April 21. Our speaker will be Mack, WB4MAK, speaking on and demonstrating
Technology in the Ham Shack. You will see a Skimmer server in action, fully
remoted stations, and radios covering from 160m through UHF, including a
Flex 5000. For those partial to using 80m and 160m receiving antennas,
you'll be interested to learn about beam forming in the Flex 5000. You may
also get a look at the DXLab Suite, which Mack is very fond of. He makes a
good case-and I am now using the program. Free is the right price, and the
program is on the technical bleeding edge. Be sure to make this meeting-it
will be a 10. After hearing his presentation, you are going to want to
visit his shack to see the technology (and a lab as well as vintage gear) in
more detail.
If you ordered a SEDXC Club shirt, they will be available for pickup at the
meeting.
Also, remember to bring along some nice items for the raffle-we were a
"little" thin in that department at the March meeting.
We are going to hold a SEDXC lunch at Firkin and Lindberg, just across from
the Lindbergh Marta stop on Thursday, May 6, 11:30 AM.
A Firkin is a British measure of beer, appropriate for this lively
British-style pub. Check out the President's April report for details.
The Firkin is very near the intersection of Piedmont Road and Sidney Marcus,
if that helps give you an idea of the location.
Sign up soon on the SEDXC website for the SEDXC Dinner at Dayton. It's
Thursday night, May 13th, at the Stockyards Inn.
