I'm sad to hear the troubles about Alpha and even more sad to see this on the reflector.

I intend to call Alpha to see if they are experiencing technical issues with their watt meter.

This is not a reflection on Alpha or anyone else, but the more complicated a 
device or system the more likely it is to run into problems.
