Greg,
Sad to hear this. I got a Globe Scout 680 in the spring of 1959 and put the
kit together. I was 15 at the time. It didn't work and W4UUH (SK, and my
Elmer) got it going for me. It was my very first rig. My receiver was a
Knight "Ocean Hopper". I later upgraded (in a month or so)to an NC-57B I
bought used from Leo. I paid $50.00 for it and he financed it at $5.00 a
month! So I continued to buy stuff from him. I later bought a Globe
pre-selector, a Globe VFOand a Globe DSB100 (that was as wide as a barn on
DSB!!).
A number of years ago (while he was in his 90's) I e-mailed him and thanked
him for helping me get started...
73,
John, W4NU
K4JAG (1959 to 1998)

Picked this up this morning from another reflector.
Leo Meyerson WØGFQ went SK yesterday. He was 100 years old.
How many of us cut our teeth on an old Globe Electronics rig? I owned 2 and
always wanted a Globe King 500B or C. Nice Audio.
For those of you who are not acquainted with Leo, give this a read.
Here is the tribute page.
