I think such an idea, if implemented, would set a new standard for chaos
generated by the "entitled". Methinks it could be akin to a multiband
"Occupy" movement!

I can't imagine anything worse. If they did that, those "elite" folks
calling on their "special day" would be QRMed to a fair-thee-well by those who
think that their job is to punish others.

It would be cleaner if the DXpedition simply sent an all-band, all mode
worked QSL to those who contribute significantly.

I am NOT recommending this, of course!

An article in DX Magazine about the cost of DXpeditions had some
interesting feedback. A ham (no call given) had an idea to help raise money for some
of the very expensive ones (Peter One, etc). To summarize, the idea is to
offer a "first class" option like the airlines do. There could be a number
of specific variations but it would be something like:

Day 1 of the DXpedition would be reserved for the folks who would want to
pre-pay (i.e. contribute) to get on the list. (guess there would be a
limited number of "seats" for a contribution like $100).

Only folks on the list would be answered (of course there is still no
guarantee of a QSO).

For a rare one like P5, I'd be happy to pay $100 to improve my chances and
support the DXPedition. If the number of seats was limited to 2,000 then
the team could raise an extra $200,000.

I'm curious what the SEDXC folks think since we have some of the most
experienced DXers on both sides of the pileup in the club. What do you think,
good idea or bad one?
