 If you only have red GA clay and not so many rocks, you have it easy compared to my yard. I drove mine the hard way with a sledge hammer and started on a step ladder. That took a lot of elbow grease. But there's easier ways of doing it. Makita makes a 20 lb demolition hammer and a ground rod attachment is available. Just plug it in to  your electrical outlet and hammer away.  Be sure to get the right attachment for your ground rod diameter. These hammers are available at Home Depot for around $600 and up, plus the attachments. Home Depot has rentals, and I believe they will rent the items mentioned.
