This Week's Contests
1. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Three separate one-hour mini tests every
Wednesday local date. 1300Z, 1900Z, 0300Z (Thursday UTC). 160-10M CW.
Exchange: Name + CWOps # or SPC. Look around 028-046 kHz on higher
bands and lower on 160M.
2. NCCC RTTY Sprint. 0145-0215Z Friday (Thursday night local date).
15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. 100W
maximum power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Same band duplicates OK after one
intervening QSO.
3. NCCC NS Sprint. 0230-0259Z Friday (Thursday night local date). 15,
20, 40, 80, 160M CW. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. 100W maximum
power. One/one kHz QSY rule. No same band dupes permitted.
4. 80M QRP Fox Hunt. 0200-0330Z Friday (Thursday night local date).
Two QRP Foxes will be calling between 3550 and 3570 kHz. 5W maximum
power. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power. Work only the two foxes and
do not spot their frequencies. The two foxes are K9CW, Drew, IL and
N4FP, Wayne, FL. Both foxes are excellent ops and I'd expect us to hear
them very well. Usually split listening up one kHz until the pile up
dies down.
5. YB DX Contest, SSB. 24 hours of Saturday UTC. 80-10M SSB.
Exchange: RS + serial #. Work everybody.
6. Straight Key Century Club Weekend Sprintathon. 1200Z Sat to 2400Z
Sun. 24 hours maximum operating time. Use a mechanical key. 160-6M
CW. Exchange: RST, SPC, CWOps # or Power. See rules for bonus points.
Look around 050 kHz and up from 1815 kHz. A lot of K3Y/x bonus stations
will be QRV celebrating the 12th anniversary of SKCC.
7. NCJ North American QSO Party, CW. 160-10M CW. 100W maximum power.
Exchange: Name + SPC. Multipliers count per band. Team competition
for teams of two to five members. Let me know if you can be QRV and
would like to be on a team. 1800Z Sat to 0559Z Sun. 10 hours maximum
operating time for single ops.
8. 4 States QRP Group Second Sunday Sprint. 0100-0300Z Monday (Sunday
night local date). 260-20M CW, SSB. Exchange: RS(T) + 4 States # or
Power. Most activity is on CW and the best frequencies seem to be
around 14060, 7120, 7040, and 3564. 5W maximum power.
9. 40M QRP Fox Hunt. Tuesday local date, 0200-0330Z Wednesday. Two
foxes (K9CW, Drew, IL and N4KV, John, TN) will be QRV between 7030 and
7050 kHz. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power. 5W maximum power. Work
only the two foxes and do not spot the foxes' frequencies.
10. Phone Fray. 0230-0259Z every Wednesday (Tuesday night local date).
100W maximum power. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M SSB. Exchange: Name + SPC.
Mults count once per band. The next weekend will be NAQP SSB and this
is an excellent way to check out your station and logging program. Just
use the NAQP SSB module in your logging program. If anyone wants to be
on a NAQP SSB contest team, please let me know. I already have:
N4IQ-FT. K4BAI-FT, AD8J=PT. Maybes from KU8E and AA4LR. Let's get up
several teams and make a lot of noise from our part of the country.
11. CWTs. See #1 above.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend. 73, John, K4BAI for SECC.
