Those of you using JTDX for FT8 may already know this. The Hound selection on the main operating screen has two mode. If you left click Hound it will turn yellow to indicate it is in effect. If the Fox answers your Offset will remain where you have it set, ie above 1000 Hz somewhere.

If once you have Hound selected you can Right click the Hound selection and it will show Hound F/C. It will only go into effect if you are on a non standard FT8 frequency where Fox station would be. You will get an error message if you select it and you are on a standard FT8 frequency.

You will also get an error message if you do not have under JTDX Settings>Radio>Split Operation, either Rig or Fake It selected. Rig is preferable for several reasons. What happens once you have it selected, and the Fox answers you, your offset will be shifted to a frequency near his and out of the QRM above 1000 Hz This is a big advantage.

Either mode works but you have a better chance of completing the contact with Hound F/C. Hope this make some sense for the JTDX users. I find it much superior to WSJT-X at this time. 73 Mike K4PI
