Ed was a GEORGIA TECH professor who made trips to africa in the late 1970's and throughout the 1980's as part of his language studies. The last few years he has written terrific articles in CQ on US possessions that include deleted ones like Swan Island.  
Ed was very active in dxing especially 160 meters.  He was W4MGN then and acquired W4YO after his move to The South Carolina Island.
