This Week's Contests:
I am running short of time tonight and I'll just mention the ones that
repeat every week and you can look at last week's for the details of those.
1. CWTs Every Wednesday.
2. QRP FOx Hunts. 0100-0230Z Thursdays. 20M. Two foxes will be
hiding between 14050 and 14070 kHz. Work only the two foxes and do not
spot their frequencies. 5W maximum power. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name,
Power. The two foxes this week are K4BAI, JOHN, GA and N0UR, JIM, MN.
3. NCCC RTTY Sprint Thursday night.
4. NCCC NS Sprint. Thursday night.
5. FISTS CW Club Unlimited Sprint. 0000-0400Z Saturday (Friday night
local date). 100W maximum power. No speed limit. 80-10M CW. Exchange:
RST, SPC, Name, FISTS # or Power.
6. Straight Key Century Club Weekend Sprintathon. 1200Z Sat to 2400Z
Sun. 36 hours maximum operating time. Use a mechanical key only.
160-6M CW. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, SKCC # or "None." Bonus: 25
points for working each of the 13 original colonies once + 100 points
for a UK QSO and 100 points for a France QSO.
7. IARU HF World Championship. 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun. 160-10M CW,
Phone. Exchange: RS(T) + ITU Zone # or IARU HQ Society Abbreviation for
HQ stations.
8. QRPARCI Summer Home Brew Sprint. 2000-2159Z Sunday. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: RST + SPC + ARCI# or powr. There are power multipliers.
9. Colorado QRP Club Great Colorado Gold Rush. 2000-2159Z Sun. 20M CW.
Exchange: RST + SPC. Bonus points for QSOs with W0CQC and N0CQC.
Call " CQ CGR." I predict almost no activity in this one and QRPers who
are QRV will mostly be in the QRPARCI Sprint.
10. 4 States QRP Group Second Sunday Sprint. 0000-0200Z Monday (Sunday
night local date). 160-10M CW, SSB. Exchange: RS(T) + SPC + 4S # or
power. QSOs once per band, not per band and mode. Most activity seems
to be on or near 14000, 7122, and 3564 kHz.
11. Phone Fray. Every Tuesday.
12. CWTs. Every Wednesday.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and a lot of QSOs. You can
check NG3K.com and other sources for a list of HQ stations expected to
be QRV in the IARU. This is a big world wide contest and I hope the
current poor conditions for DX won't hurt it much. Six meters is still
open a lot and the next weekend should be the annual CQ VHF Contest
weekend. 73, John, K4BAI.
