Sorry I didn't get this out yesterday as promised. Jeff, KU8E, and I
spent about 5 1/2 hours making our reservations to go to and from
Bonaire for CQ WW CW this month. Always a hassle dealing with company
websites. And my bank refused the charge for the rental truck for the
island. Had to get them to allow it, even though the payee was
overseas. Never had that trouble before and didn't have it with a
smaller charge for an island airline with the same card. This serves as
a reminder that you should always let your card issuer know when you
expect to be making charges from another country, even Canada. Except
for American Express. Their card isn't widely accepted overseas and
they have just laughed at me when I called them. We are hopeful that
Dennis, K2SX will join us there. We will use PJ4A in the contest and
PJ4/home calls outside the contest.

This Week's Contests:

1. NCCC RTTY Sprint. 0145-0215Z Friday Thursday evening local date.
15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. Exchange: both calls, #,
name, SPC. One/one kHz QSY rule. Same band dupes OK after one
intervening QSO. Look around 080 kHz on each band and 1805 kHz.

2. NCCC NS Sprint. 0230-0259Z Friday, Thursday evening local date. 15,
20, 40, 80, 160M CW. 100W max power. Exchange: both calls, #, name,
SPC. One/one kHz QSY rule. No same band dupes permitted. Look around
040 kHz and up from 1815 kHz.

3. Jakarta RTTY Contest. 24 hours of Saturday UTC. 15M RTTY only.
Exchange: RST + serial #. Work everyone.

4. Ukrainian DX Contest. 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun. 160-10M CW, SSB.
Exchange: RST + serial # or 2 letter UKR Oblast abbreviation. Work
everyone.

5. ARRL November Sweepstakes Contest, CW. 2100Z Sat to 0300Z Mon (24
hours max and off periods of 30 mins or longer). Exchange: serial #,
precedence (Q/A/B/U/M/S), callsign, check (last two digits of year first
licensed) + ARRL/RAC Section. This is the big domestic CW contest of
the year. Try to work all sections for a "clean sweep." There is a
club aggregate score competition, so be sure to put your club in the
Cabrillo file header. For SECC members, put exactly "South East Contest
Club."

Remember that local time changes by moving back one hour at 2 AM Sunday.
This doesn't affect how you keep your time for ARRL SS, but does affect
what time you might do other things, including church attendance.

6. HSC Club Contest. 0900-1100Z Sunday and 1500-1700Z Sunday. 80-10M
CW. Max power 150 watts. Exchange: RST + HSC # or "NM" for non
members. The first session is a hard time for us to work Europe where
most (but not all) HSC members are located. The later time, the bands
will be covered with ARRL SS stations. You may work the same station in
each session.

7. Adventure Radio Society Spartan Sprint. 0200-0400Z Tuesday (9 to 11
PM EST Monday night). 5W max power. 80-10M CW. Exchange: RST + SPC +
power. Activity usually around 14060, 7030, 7040, 3560 kHz.

8. Phone Fray. Every Tuesday night. 0230-0259Z Wed. 15, 20, 40, 80,
160M SSB. 100W max power. Exchange: Name + SPC. Mults count per
mode. Use your logger's NAQP SSB module. Look around 21325, 14250,
7175, 3800, and 1875 kHz. Good practice for phone contests.

9. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Every Wednesday local date. Three
separate one-hour mini-tests. 1300Z, 1900Z, and 0300Z (Thursday UTC
date). 160-10M CW. Exchange: Name + CWOps # or SPC. Look around 026
to 046 kHz on each band and lower on 160M. Note that this one stays on
UTC time, so each session is one hour earlier that it has been when we
were on EDT. This makes the first one earlier so some of us can do it
before work and the last session earlier so some of us can do it without
staying up past our bedtimes.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Put in as much time as you can in
ARRL SS CW this weekend. No one should miss AL, GA, or SC in this one!
  73, John, K4BAI.
